Central Kalimantan, known for its rich in mineral resources, particularly coal, plans to build a railway network that will connects its mines in the northern part of the province with seaports.
Head of the provincial development planning agency Syahrin Daulay told a seminar on railway in Jakarta on Thursday the construction of the railroad network would be divided into six steps.
The long-term project will start with construction of a 185km railroad between Puruk Cahu and Bangkuang, followed by a 175km railway connecting Bangkuang and Lupak Dalam seaport.
