AirAsia resumes flights in Jakarta

Low cost airline AirAasia said Sunday it resumed flights from and to Jakarta after evaluating that the city was safe from Mount Merapi ash.

However, the airline still halted its flight activities in Bandung and Yogyakarta as the two cities were affected by the volcano ash.

On Sunday, seven airlines - Emirates Air, Jetstar Airways, Cathay Pacific, Philippines Airlines, Royal Brunei, ValuAir, and Eva Air – still cancelled their departures from Jakarta, kompas.com reported.

The airlines said they were worried that the volcano ash would endanger their airplanes and passengers.
